DOHA: SAK Holding Group, one of the leading real estate companies in Qatar, continues to bag regional and global architectural and engineering awards for its debut project ‘Valley City’. The group won yet another recognition ‘Best Architectural Project Award’ in the Arabian Business 2013 Awards Ceremony held here on Tuesday night.
In addition, the ambitious project this year alone has earned seven international awards from France, Italy, Canada, the US and the UK.
The award was received by SAK Holding Group Chairman Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani and CEO Engineer Hesham Al Sahtari, and Deputy CEO Abdul Rahman Al Najjar. Sheikh Thani also received the ‘Outstanding Contribution in Business Award’ for his unrivalled contribution to Qatar’s vibrant private sector business.
TheValley City project, spread in three million square metres, is an integrated environment for living and working, near one of the stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup. It attracted the attention of worldwide real estate investors and businessmen. The iconic project was designed by renowned architect Marwan Zugheib from MZ Architects, Lebanon.
Sheikh Thani established many renowned companies operating in different sectors, including real estate and Islamic banking and finance. He has played a remarkable role in the businessmen community in Qatar and the GCC, through his foundations.
Sheikh Thani is one of the top contributors in the real estate development in Qatar and the region, and in Ezdan, one of the most deep-rooted real estate company in the country.
Ezdan, founded in the sixties of the last the century, has now turned into a holding group working in multiple disciplines and various activities.
The annual Arabian Business Awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Qatar Chamber. Vice-Chairman of the Chamber, Muhammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kuwari, presented all the 19 awards given to a wide spectrum of businesses and categories by the Arabian Business magazine, a subsidiary of ITP group.
Some other awards of Arabian Business are ‘Life Achievement’ award and ‘Business of the Year’ award which went to Badr Abdullah Al Darwaish and Hisham Al Mana, respectively.
Other companies awarded by the business periodical, include: International Islamic (QIIB), Islamic Bank of the Year; Al Ahli Bank, Retail Bank of the Year; Barwa Bank, Bank of the Year; Daman Health, Insurance Company of the Year; Sharaka, Fastest Company of the Year; Souq Waqif, Hospitality and Tourism Company of the Year; Qatar University, Best Educational Institute and others.
Also attending the ceremony were Nasser Al Jaber, Chief Logistics and Administration Development Officer, Adel Hassan, SAK Partnerships Company General Manager, one of SAK Holding Subsidiaries, and a number the company executives and officials.
