Doha: Imal Liyanage sizzled with a century as Qatar thrashed Kenya by eight wickets in the ICC Men’s CWC Challenge League A 2025, held in Jersey, United Kingdom.
Liyanage hammered 12 boundaries in a brilliant knock of 107 off 136 deliveries, helping Qatar chase down a target of 243 with 39 balls to spare. It was the first century of the tournament.
He shared a 165-run stand with Shakkir Kassim, who played a key role in the successful chase with an impressive 83 off 82 balls.
Earlier, Ikramullah Khan and Owais Ahmed claimed three wickets each, restricting Kenya to 242/8 in their allotted overs.
The victory marked Qatar’s first win in the eight-nation tournament, where they currently sit at the bottom of the table with hosts Jersey leading the standings.
