Players and officials of Birla Public School and MES Indian Public School are seen with Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) officials after the final of the Qatar Under-17 Schools Girls Cricket Tournament at West Bay Grounds in Doha. Birla Public School won the final by 91 runs.
DOHA: Hiral Agarwal turned in a dominant all-round display to power Birla Public School to an overwhelming 91-run victory against MES Indian Public School in the final of the Qatar Under-17 Schools Girls Cricket Tournament.
In the final held at the West Bay Grounds, Birla Public School amassed 160 for no loss in 20 overs. Hiral struck a fine 46 not out and Santhiya contributed an undefeated 36.
MES Indian School failed to come up with suitable response and collapsed to 69 in 19.5 overs. Only two players – Feba with 17 and Emi with 13 - could reach the double figures.
Hiral and Amal were the wreckers in chief, sharing six wickets. Aditi picked two, while Ananya and Divi grabbed one apiece.
Hiral was later chosen as the Player of the Final. She also bagged the Awards for Best Batswoman and Best Bowler. Sidra Tahir of IIS and Khadija Ahmed of PEC were declared the Best Wicketkeeper and Best All-rounder, respectively.
In all, six schools participated in the tournament and were divided into two groups of three each.
The Group A consisted of Pak Shamaa School & College, Dukhan English School and Birla Public School.
The Group B involved M.E.S Indian School, Pakistan Education Centre and Ideal Indian School.
Gul Mohammad Khan Jadoon, the Head of the Domestic Cricket at the QCA, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
Those present during the prize distribution included Miss. Mariam Gul Khan Jadoon, Syed Hassan Raza, Paramjeet Kaur Bhullar, Sajida Bibi and Shivani Mishra.
