DOHA: The 8th edition of World Chambers Congress concluded here yesterday announcing Italy’s Turin as the next host city of the Congress and the Chambers Competition awards Ceremony.

The four-day event was marked by the presence of over 2000 delegates from 143 countries and more than 135 exhibitors.

The biennial Congress, being held in the Middle East for the first time under the theme of “Opportunities for All”, featured a distinguished list of high-profile speakers, a series of plenary, workshops, exclusive business programmes, and a large exhibition got underway.

The concluding day witnessed the final plenary session “A World in Crisis”. And parallel session on ‘Membership engagement & youth’ and ‘leadership in policy reform’.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the World Chambers Congress and would like to extend our gratitude to the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for their patronage. Going by the large turnout it is fairly obvious that the chambers remain a great platform for businesses of the world to come together and exchange new ideas,” said Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, chairman, Qatar Chamber.

The speakers at the 2013 Congress plenary are addressed four key areas affecting global business: education, SMEs, women in business, and business issues.

Meanwhile the policy of business was discussed by another set of global influencers at the full-day ICC Business Trade Agenda Summit on Monday, as speakers attempted to move international trade negotiations out of a 12 year deadlock.

One of the main highlights of the 2013 Congress was the Business Programme, sponsored by Qatari Diar and Silatech that attracted large number of attendees interested in the astonishing narrative of Qatar and its economy.

“The interest in the first two days of the Business Programme served as a reminder of Qatar’s bright outlook. Audience was keen to learn the many opportunities that Qatar boasts at the moment, and leaders of Qatar’s premier entities were on hand to explain the ambitious plans,” said Remy Rowhani, CEO of Qatar Chamber.

The 2013 Congress enjoyed the support of some of Qatar’s foremost organisations. QNB Group, was the strategic sponsor.
