Doha, Qatar: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), one of the centres under the Qatar Social Work Foundation, has launched a series of Ramadan activities and awareness campaigns targeting women, children, and victims of family disintegration and violence, as well as beneficiaries of its residential care (temporary shelter) services.

The initiative aims to create a supportive family-like environment for beneficiaries during the holy month. Activities have focused primarily on residents of the temporary shelter, including decorating the centre in preparation for Ramadan and organising spiritual and educational programmes in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Qatar Charity.

Under a joint awareness programme titled “Ramadan Lights,” the centre has coordinated religious lectures, storytelling sessions about the Prophets for children, and Qur’an memorisation programmes to encourage beneficiaries to memorise selected verses. A range of recreational and training activities has also been introduced, including a cooking course for children, entertainment competitions, and preparations for Garangao Night, with children participating in organising traditional gift distributions.

Acting Executive Director of Aman Fadhl Al Kaabi stressed the importance of cooperation with external partners to implement such awareness and recreational initiatives for shelter residents. He noted that the primary goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment through the combined efforts of specialised staff, while integrating beneficiaries into community events and seasonal occasions.

Al Kaabi also underscored the centre’s commitment to reintegrating beneficiaries with their families and the wider community, highlighting the positive psychological and social impact of Ramadan activities in building self-confidence and strengthening family cohesion.

For her part, Hanan Al Ali, Director of the Communication and Media Office at Aman, described the collaboration with Hyat Plaza Mall as a strategic partnership that expands the reach of the centre’s awareness initiatives.

“This fruitful cooperation with Hyat Plaza enables us to engage directly with families and the wider community during Ramadan,” she said. “Through the annual Aman Ramadan Competition and our interactive awareness segments, we aim to reach the largest possible number of women, children, and young girls, raise awareness about social protection, and introduce the public to the centre’s services.”

Al Ali added that the Aman Ramadan Competition will also be launched across the centre’s social media platforms, featuring weekly interactive questions, with valuable prizes sponsored by Hyat Plaza. In addition, the centre will present awareness segments on the mall’s stage every Monday and Wednesday throughout Ramadan.
