Doha: On the occasion of the International Year Of Millets, IBPC QATAR organized a Panel Discussion “Magical Millets - Where Tradition Meets Trends” at the Ashoka Hall, Indian Cultural Center, Doha, which was attended by an audience of more than 100.
IBPC President Jaffer Us Sadik welcomed the gathering and spoke about the significance of this Panel Discussion.
Chief Guest Angeline Premalatha (Counselor Political & Commerce at Embassy of India) inaugurated the event in presence of Guest of Honor Ghanim Al Sulaiti, Qatar’s Vegan Entrepreneur, Cookery Contest Winners, Apex Body Presidents, Heads of Corporations, Business Professionals, Members and invited Guests.
In her speech, Premalatha spoke about how Millets are a powerhouse of essential vitamins and minerals and low in calories and fat, making them an ideal food for weight loss and diabetes, which is essential for our day-to-day life. Ghanim Al Sulaiti spoke about his journey as a Vegan in Qatar, and showcased why he is a serial entrepreneur while establishing vegan restaurants, cafes and cosmetics businesses in Qatar, including the first and only Vegan restaurant inside any International Airport in the World.
IBPC Vice President & Panel Moderator Rupalakshmi Setty, along with her Panel of Experts Dietitian Akshaya Kamath (Clinical Dietitian HMC), Masterchef Moiz Vohra (The Village), and Sahana Iliyas (Malabar Adukkala) enlightened the audience with their lively discussion on the subject of how Millets are essential and could be introduced into our daily diet.
IBPC QATAR also gave away awards to winners of a Cooking Contest for innovative Millet Recipes. Anandita Panchal won the contest, while Arwa Juzer and Hetal Patel were declared runners-up. First 10 cookery contest participants also received gift hampers.
IBPC Vice President Manoj Megchiani spoke on the benefits of joining IBPC and a promise of more such informative events in the coming months, while recognizing the contribution of “Only Coffee”, Qatar’s first and only Speciality Millet Cafe, who provided tasty Millet Snacks at the event IBPC, an APEX BODY operating under the Aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, provides a platform for empowering its members and creating enrichment opportunities for Indian Businesses and Professionals to enhance Indo-Qatar Trade and Professional Relations.
