New York: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, met in New York with Assistant UN Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), Jean-Paul Laborde, and Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) and the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), Dr. Jehangir Khan on the sidelines of the 71st Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the work of the United Nations bodies and the State of Qatar’s efforts to implement the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and address violent extremism.
Al Muraikhi also met with the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Rima Khalaf.
The meeting reviewed cooperation between the State of Qatar and the UN Commission as well as the coordination for the next ESCWA Ministerial Meeting scheduled to be held in Doha.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ecuador, Ricardo Patino Aroca.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.
The Minister also met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.The meeting shed light on the right to education in emergencies along with the refugee crisis, particularly in Syria.
Al Muraikhi has also met with Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charles Fernandez.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and means of promoting cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural fields.
In addition, the Minister met with Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Comoros, Dr. Abdulkarim Mohammad. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them.
