Doha, Qatar: Based at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium during the FIFA World Cup 2026, Wasan Yousef Al Jaber is serving on secondment as a FIFA Media Officer, supporting media operations for all teams competing at the venue. Alongside this role, she also serves as the dedicated media officer for the Qatar National Team, helping ensure the smooth delivery of media activities throughout the tournament.

As part of a knowledge and expertise transfer programme between the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and FIFA, Al Jaber is among a group of SC specialists deployed across the United States and Canada to support delivery of the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup. Drawing on experience gained through Qatar’s successful hosting of major international tournaments, the programme enables professionals to share expertise developed at home with host countries around the world.

In her role, Al Jaber works closely with team officials, coaches, players, broadcasters and media representatives, moderating press conferences, facilitating interviews, managing mixed-zone operations and ensuring teams meet tournament media requirements.

“My job is to serve as a bridge between the teams and the world, facilitating media access, coordinating communications activities, and ensuring that important moments from the tournament reach audiences across the globe,” said Al Jaber.

Operating across both venue and team responsibilities, Al Jaber helps manage the complex media demands surrounding one of the world’s largest sporting events.

“Every tournament presents its own challenges, but what makes this experience special is applying lessons learned from events hosted in Qatar to a truly global stage. The experience we gained over the years continues to prove its value here every day,” she said.

While her responsibilities extend across multiple teams and stakeholders, representing her home country remains a source of pride.

Al Jaber’s journey in tournament media operations began at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where she served as Media Operations Venue Manager and helped deliver a tournament that welcomed more than 17,000 media and broadcast professionals from around the world. The tournament set new benchmarks for media operations and went on to generate the most extensive media coverage in FIFA World Cup history.

Since then, she has continued to build her expertise across a series of major international tournaments, including the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, FIFA Arab Cup, FIFA Intercontinental Cup and FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.

“Few people get the opportunity to work across so many major tournaments in such a short period of time. Each event taught me something different, challenged me in new ways and helped me grow professionally. That experience has given me the confidence to stay focused under pressure and contribute wherever I am needed,” said Al Jaber.

Today, Al Jaber is among the many SC professionals helping carry Qatar’s tournament delivery expertise beyond its borders, supporting the successful organisation of World Cup while continuing to showcase the capabilities developed through Qatar’s hosting legacy.
