Rs 1 crore for each member of Indian team

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday announced that each member of the Indian team will be awarded a cash prize of rupees one crore for winning the Champions Trophy on Sunday night.

Led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India beat England by five runs in a thrilling final at Edgbaston, Birmingham to be crowned Champions Trophy winners for the second time. 

India had shared the title with Sri Lanka in 2002.

BCCI also announced in a statement that rupees three million will be given to every member of the support staff.

The Indian players who were part of the 2011 ICC World Cup winning side were given rupees two crore each in April 2011. 

The backroom staff headed by  Gary Kirsten were given rupees five million each more than two years ago. AGENCIES
