Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) has announced its program of events for next June, specially designed to enhance the participation of various segments of society, preserve cultural heritage, and encourage lifelong learning.

The Library opens its program with a focus on family well-being, as the "Parenting Book Club" will hold a session on 3 June to discuss the topic "Confident Children in Times of Crisis", aimed at familiarizing families with practical strategies that help raise children who possess confidence, resilience, and the ability to overcome challenges and difficulties.

Among the foremost cultural events next month is "Keys to Palestine: Memory, Stories, and Documentation". And QNL will host a session on 5 June highlighting the enduring importance of safeguarding Palestinian history and documenting Palestinian narratives for future generations through various forms of documentation.

QNL also continues its focus on families this month through a practical and interactive workshop consisting of two identical sessions on 6 and 8 June under the "Ready for School" initiative, titled "A Parent's Guide to Building Visual Supports for Children with Special Needs".

Parents and and families will be introduced to practical tools that support their children's development and enhance their readiness to begin their educational journey in the early years.

As part of efforts to advance the research and academic sector, QNL will organize a workshop on 9 June titled "Publishing Open Access with Elsevier", providing researchers, students, and authors with practical guidance to help them navigate open-access publishing, enhance the global visibility of their research papers, and expand their scholarly impact.

In the second half of the month, the focus shifts to regional heritage. On 13 June, and as part of the "Qatar Contemporary History Series", a lecture titled "Historical Writing: From Law and the Sea to the Archive", will be held, offering additional perspectives on the history of the State of Qatar through the use of legal documents, maritime sources, and archival materials.

As part of its efforts to enhance access to knowledge for persons with disabilities and encourage the participation of all segments of society, the Library will present "Connecting Communities Through Inclusion: Audible Shelf" on 17 June.

The initiative aims to ensure that literary works and sources of knowledge remain accessible to everyone, particularly individuals with visual impairments.

On the same day, QNL will organize the musical evening "Philharmonic at the Library: Oldies Goldies II - Classical Music in Cartoons" featuring CineMoon Ensemble from the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, which will perform a selection of some of the most famous classical pieces featured in animated cartoons.

Meanwhile, QNL continues its commitment to protecting cultural heritage. In its capacity as the IFLA Regional Centre for Preservation and Conservation for Arab Countries and the Middle East, the Library will host a webinar on 24 June on the Nicosia Convention 2017, titled "Protecting Cultural Heritage and Combating Illicit Trafficking: The Nicosia Convention 2017", in collaboration with the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) in Cyprus.

The webinar will shed light on international efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property, as well as practical approaches to implementing the convention and safeguarding cultural heritage.

The Library will conclude its monthly program of events with a lecture on 24 June as part of the "Gulf History Lecture Series," titled "Caravan Trade: The Story of Networks that Connected the Arabian Peninsula to the World".

The lecture will examine merchant networks and caravan trade routes in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and their profound impact on shaping the region's economic and cultural history.
