Subsidised Syrian and Jordanian sheep for Qataris from June 2

DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced the subsidised prices of Syrian and Jordanian sheep for Qataris which will be on offer from June 2 until the end of Ramadan.
Widam, the state-backed company will distribute the sheep to the citizens through its abattoirs at Central Market, Al Khor, Al Shamal and Al Mazrouah, the ministry said. Every citizen will get two sheep.
A total 20,000 heads of Syrian sheep are made available for distribution priced at QR950 each (40kg and above). Another 10,000 heads of Jordanian sheep are also on offer at a price of QR850 each (35kg and above). The beneficiaries are required to produce their Qatari ID as proof. They have to pay an additional QR16 for slaughtering, cutting and packaging and QR34 as porters’ fee. The sheep has to be slaughtered only at the Widam abattoirs.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce will offer community-oriented services, including some food and non-food items on discounted prices. Details of the initiatives will be disclosed in the coming weeks and will be available on the Ministry’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube under the name MEC_QATAR and WhatsApp account on No. 66111400.
