DOHA: Qatar-Pakistan Business Forum (QPBF) plans to hold a big exhibition in November to promote Pakistani products in Qatar.
Products, including food, textiles (cloths and garments), leather wear and furniture, among others, will be showcased in the Made-in-Pakistan trade fair.
The proposal was made in a meeting of QBPF representatives with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan who was in Doha on a visit.
The minister was on a private visit at the invitation of local firm Dania Group. “The proposal has been approved initially by the minister,” said Shahzad Ahmad Mughal, CEO and Partner of the group.
“The minister has appreciated the move and gave a go-ahead. Legal procedures are to be completed such as  approvals from Qatar Chamber and other local authorities and those in Pakistan,” he added.
“It was agreed to hold the exhibition in November but the date and venue are yet to be finalised,” Mughal told The Peninsula on the sidelines of a banquette hosted by the Group in the minister’s honour.
The banquette was attended by Pakistan embassy officials, community representatives, businessmen and other dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, Khan said that Pakistan will have enough gas and electricity to overcome outages and energy shortages within next two years, thanks to Qatar-Pakistan energy deal.
The deal enabled Pakistan to establish a gas terminal to meet the needs of the local market, he added.
Without a terminal it was impossible to cover gas requirements of the industrial and domestic sectors, Khan added.
