DOHA: The importance of empowering parents to give children freedom to experiment and learn was emphasised by Bollywood star Kajol Devgan in Doha.
She added star power to OMO, Unilever’s fabric cleaning brand, campaign, which encourages parents to give their child the freedom to explore and develop new experiences by encouraging outdoor play.
“I am very proud to be part of a campaign that supports parents while also encouraging them to set their children free to learn, thrive and grow. As a mom myself, I support OMO’s message of child development and this cause is very close to my heart,” Kajol who is the brand ambassador of OMO, told The Peninsula.
OMO believes that children should feel free to explore, learn and develop – and sometimes getting a few stains along the way is part of that process. This is how kids learn and express their creativity, without their mothers having to worry about getting dirty as OMO’s guarantees effective stain removal.
“The central theme of our campaign is empowering parents to let their children explore, experiment and find out about the world on their own. And now, we’re taking OMO’s support a step further by giving parents a sum of money that empowers them to give their children the best upbringing possible,” said Unilever Gulf’s Director of Food & Beverages, Home Care & Ice Cream, Waqas Javed.
Omo's ‘Dirt is good,’ campaign argues that dirt equates to creativity among children.
“I think there is a lovely idea, lovely thought behind it, that dirt is good, and you should let them have a life. Rather than be over protective,” said Kajol.
In reply to a query how such campaigns can help bringing a change, she said: “I don’t believe a small campaign can change everything, but I believe that every little thing we do adds a little bit to the change, it cannot happen in one day, one year or may be in ten years, but every little bit that we do matters. And brands like OMO, I really respect the fact that they can come out and do this small step.” She said.
The campaign by OMO to empower parents in Doha gives them a chance to contribute to their children’s upbringing by winning the prize money that goes to their education.
Parents got a chance to win money to fund their child’s upbringing on purchase of 3Kg OMO powder pack or 1.5L bottle of liquid detergent.
The winners of the campaign were announced yesterday at the W Hotel & Residences in Doha’s West Bay. Kajol also made a special appearance at the Lulu hypermarket on the D Ring road along with the winners.
