Doha: The Embassy of Syria in Qatar has honoured Syrian expatriate community members for participating in the events and activities associated with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The honouring ceremony was attended by Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Qatar, Dr. Bilal Turkiyeh, and First Secretary of the Syrian Embassy, Saad Baroud.
A number of community members, including media professionals, artists and volunteers who participated in various accompanying events and activities, as well as fans of the Arab teams participating in the tournament and children from the school of the Syrian community in Qatar also attended the ceremony.
For his part, Dr. Bilal Turkiyeh praised the honorees, appreciating their distinguished efforts in showcasing the Syrian heritage and culture and introducing them to visitors, guests and fans of the World Cup.
He thanked the members of the community for their presence in the events and matches, and contribution to defining the Syrian cause, conveying the voice of the Syrians through it, and highlighting the ancient Syrian civilisation, which expresses the originality and creativity of the Syrians.
Dr. Turkiyeh greeted Qatar on the great success and the wonderful organisation and hosting an exceptional and historic version of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He said that it will remain immortal in the memory of people as it will remain an honourable legacy forever in the history of Qatar and for future generations, and a source of pride for all Arabs.
At the end of the meeting, the Syrian embassy presented certificates of appreciation to a number of participants in recognition of their outstanding efforts in promoting Syrian participation during the mega sporting event.
