Ideal Indian School (IIS) celebrated its 29th Annual Day on November 21 and 22 with a lot of colour and gaiety, showcasing India’s cultural heritage. The two-day event featured performances by students of the Kindergarten, Junior, Girls and Boys sections.
On the first day, Suneel Thapliyal, Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, was the chief guest. School President Dr Hassan Kunhi M P, Principal Syed Shoukath Ali and the heads of sections were present on the occasion.
The Annual Day at Ideal Indian School is also an occasion to honour students for their outstanding performance in CBSE examinations every year. Gold and Silver medals were awarded to the school rank holders and toppers in individual subjects in the class 10 and class 12 examinations held in March 2013. School staff who had completed 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service to the school were also felicitated on the occasion.
The second day featured a cultural extravaganza titled “Once Upon a Time”. About 2,000 students from all four sections mesmerised the audience with their stage show. The fiesta included a variety of programmes, such as dances (classical, folk, western and fusion), songs, mime, and musical and multilingual dramas. Noted among the presentations were World of Fairies, Ways of Life, Heritage India, Global Unity, 100 years of Indian Cinema and a thematic presentation on contemporary issues.
Head Boy Brian S Danthy welcomed the gathering and Head Girl Asiya Aqeel Thakur proposed a vote of thanks. The Class XII toppers were Jayne James, Rashad Mubarak and Rohit Jose. The Class X Toppers were Zunaira Fatima, Masooma Zehra, Saima Sabreen, Nyla M Isar, Sarah Khan, Sana Abdullaise, Fathima Mehjabin, Nejla Abdul Khader, Shaikha Khadeeja, Sana Shanavas, Marina Shaji, Sabitha Sasi, Sarah Johnson, Manzoora P, Megha Jose, Anne Mary, Munisha. P, Asim Sha Rahman, Layeeq Ahmed, Anil Kumar A, Deepak Ashokan, Umair Khalid, Joel John, Saeed Salih, Shubham Shanker, Anirudha Mondal, Sharoop Madayi, Noel Allan, Surya Narayanan, Vignesh Hari and Juma Rashid.
Parveen Taj was honoured for 25 years of service and Vinita Sharma, Naheeda Khan, Abdul Sathar K, Jabbar S M, Dildar Shah H and Liyaqat Ismail C for 20 years of service.
