KABUL: At least 48 Taliban militants were killed and 38 others were injured during joint military operation by Afghan and NATO forces, Afghan officials said.
The interior ministry of Afghanistan issued a statement on Thursday confirming the report and said that the militants were killed or injured during joint operations in the past 24 hours.
The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand and Nimroz provinces of Afghanistan.
Afghan national police jointly conducted the operations with the Afghan national army, Afghan intelligence and coalition security forces, the interior ministry said.
Afghan and coalition security forces also detained 6 militants during the operations and seized some weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operation, interior ministry said in its statement.
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the reports. (QNA)
