DOHA: The draft law organising nurseries has got the Cabinet nod.

The State Cabinet, in its regular session, yesterday decided to take the necessary measures to issue the draft law, after reviewing the recommendations of the Advisory Council.

According to the draft law, nurseries should provide the appropriate conditions for development of the skills and talents of children in various fields using sound education methods.

Nurseries are also responsible for the safety and comfort of children enrolled.

As per the draft law, the administrative unit at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs concerned will issue licences to nurseries and also oversee them.

The draft law has set the conditions and procedures for issuing a licence, obligations of a licensee, waiver of the licence, and penalties in case of breaching regulations established by the law.

All nurseries will be required to adjust their status in accordance with the provisions of the law within six months after it comes into force. The  Minister of Labour and Social Affairs will issue the decisions necessary to implement the provisions of the law.
