DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a project to run an Orthopaedic Surgery Centre in central Yemen for the benefit of people wounded in the ongoing civil war. The centre in Taiz is to perform surgical operations for 220 to 250 people in cooperation with Sobol Charitable Foundation.
Due to the suspension of services at health facilities in the province of Taiz as a result of lack of resources and growing medical needs of increasing casualties daily in the areas of conflict, the security and economic situation is deteriorating.
The project also aims at signing an agreement with hospital to perform surgical operations and carry out examinations for 220-250 casualties, said Mohammed Rashed Al Kaabi, Manager, Relief Department, QC.
He said the project will provide free orthopaedic surgical services to casualties in the province, where the first specialised centre in Yemen is being furnished and equipped in Al Taoun hospital in Taiz.
The special orthopaedic centre includes three equipped operation rooms.
