DOHA: As part of its ongoing awareness activities, Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) organised a workshop for employees of a private company.
The workshop was organised to convey the message to the employees and society that having cancer does not necessarily mean death and that cancer is a disease that can be controlled and cured if diagnosed at an early stage. It also stressed a healthy lifestyle to prevent cancer, such as eating healthy food, exercising on a regular basis and sleeping for a sufficient number of hours to strengthen the immune system and protect the body from being susceptible to various cancers.
Over 50 employees of The Look Company (TLC) attended the workshop organised by QCS’ health education department.
Jacob Burke, Co-President of TLC, stressed the importance of useful lectures and events like the workshop to educate and encourage employees to live a healthy lifestyle.
“We are pleased to participate in the awareness campaign, since our concern is to raise awareness about cancer and its various types and spread the culture of health to help protect ourselves from cancer,”  he said.
Dr Hadi Mohamad Abu Rasheed,  Health Educator, QCS, said, “I would like to express my deep appreciation to TLC for its efforts to fight cancer by supporting us in our cancer awareness activities. I would also like to thank those who supported QCS and helped spread its message by empowering the community with the knowledge about cancer and how to treat and prevent it.”
