DOHA: Quick-Wins, a leading regional management consulting firm, held a seminar titled ‘Leadership Development and Qatar Vision 2030: Challenges and Strategies’, which was attended by a number of senior officials from government and private sector organizations.
The event featured prominent experts in leadership development and strategy such as Larry Samuel Domingo, Oussama Mansour, Daria Ofman and Ramy Farouk.
Shady Gabr, Director of Business Development at Quick-Wins, said: “This event is a great opportunity to meet officials from the government and private sectors, discuss the challenges they face in developing local leadership capabilities and share a glimpse of what we have to offer to the Qatari market. Through our expert teams, alliances and partnerships, we believe we can significantly contribute to the realization of Qatar Vision 2030, especially when it comes to human development.”
The event started with a presentation by Lawrence (Larry) Samuel Domingo, an expert in leadership development of young executives in the GCC. Larry’s presentation focused on Transformation Through Leadership. Larry agrees with President Eisenhower’s definition of Leadership as “the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” He also believes, as Bill Gates, that as we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.
Larry went on to highlight the importance of transformational leadership in effecting change in organisations. According to Larry, leadership is not restricted to senior positions in organizations. A transformation leader is anyone in the organization who works with employees as a team to identify the required change, create a vision, motivate and inspire others to realize this vision.
Oussama Mansour, a prominent expert in leadership development in the region, CEO of Profiles International Middle East, gave a presentation on “Building Strategic Leadership Pipeline Towards Qatar Vision 2030.” He focused on ten pillars of leadership for successful realisation of Qatar Vision 2030. One important pillar of leadership is that it should be from within the organization, or what he called “inside-out approach”. He believes the leadership should be from within the organization, knowing the culture and values of people he/she is about to lead. “Leadership is not a job title”, he said.
