DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA) will double the flights on its Doha-Bucharest route from this summer, enhancing the service from a daily to double-daily offering in response to increased passenger demand to and from Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport in Romania.
First commencing service on January 17, 2011, the route recently celebrated its fifth anniversary of serving passengers from Romania, onwards to more than 150 global destinations, with the daily scheduled service set to increase this summer to a 10 weekly offering from June 2 and to 14 flights per week from August 1.
Offering enhanced connectivity and new flight times for passengers to and from Romania, the new flights will improve connectivity within the QA network with the Middle East, India, Asia and Australia, including the airline’s newest network additions this year of Adelaide and Sydney.
Akbar Al Baker, QA Group Chief Executive, said: “As a global airline, we are committed to connecting Romania to our worldwide network of more than 150 destinations through our award-winning hub and home Hamad International Airport.
“We are delighted to be celebrating the fifth anniversary since QA commenced direct flights to Bucharest, by increasing our capacity and frequency on the route from a daily to double-daily service, connecting business and leisure passengers to Doha and onwards through seamless transfers within one of the world’s newest airport.”
The Bucharest-Doha route is served by an Airbus A320 aircraft, offering individual seat-back television screens which provide all passengers with the next-generation, interactive entertainment system, Oryx One, featuring a choice of up to 2,000 options.
Passengers can use any transfer time to take advantage of the activities and services available at Hamad International Airport — from free Wi-Fi, airside swimming pool and play areas for children to multiple quiet areas where passengers can relax and the amazing duty-free shopping and dining options.
One of the fastest growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world, QA recently launched an emotive and modern brand campaign — Going Places Together — to reflect its core values as a contemporary and innovative company that is going places and wants nothing more than to inspire its passengers to do the same. QA is in its 19th year of operations and operates a modern fleet of 177 aircraft to over 150 key business and leisure destinations across six continents.
