DOHA: Al Rayyan Municipality has asked the general public to follow the food safety guidelines during picnics and camping to maintain public health and safety.
The Health Control Department of the municipality has advised the campers to select dry, canned food of long-term validity, for its adequate storage requirements.
It has been advised to use small-sized containers of certain food, such as jams and cheeses and use dry or canned milk of small sizes.
If food is prepared for instant consumption, it should be in small quantities and the leftover should be disposed of immediately.
Meat, poultry, and uncooked fish must be separated from vegetables, fruits and cooked meals.
In case of using frozen foodstuff, it should be fully and completely frozen, so that it looks extremely solid, prior to initiating the journey.
Sufficient quantities of ice must be kept in the ice box, for preservation of perishable food. It has also been advised to use disposable utensils (spoons ,plates, forks, cups and others) and sterilised napkins and disinfectants for disinfecting the hands. The Peninsula
