Total’s annual ‘welcome party’, called ‘Marhaba Day’, was recently celebrated with a traditional Qatari theme. With the tag line: ‘Travel with your family through time’ the event took place in the Qatar Heritage village, and was organised to honour the newly recruited staff of the company
All the employees and contractors of the company were invited, and attendees were welcomed with a Qatari Sword dance, followed by a speech by newly joined Managing Director of Total E&P Qatar, Guillaume Chalmin. He then commemorated the winners of the ‘Imagine my Qatar’, a drawing competition which was held for all the children of employees of Total during the Qatar National Week celebrations.
The traditionally decorated venue displayed a live show of Qatari wedding, and a souq which is a collaboration with Qatar Social Development Centre (SDC) in which Qatari families can display their own products. The party was planned and executed by Qatari employees of the French company.
“We are currently running a campaign so that our colleagues can fully discover the beauty and culture of Qatar. They were able to re-live the history of our country through a totally transforming experience,” said Alanoud Alnaimi and Maha Al Sadrawi, employees, and organizers of the event. “In the end, everyone is able to learn and at the same time embrace the richness of Qatari culture”.
