Fifty One East hosted a book launch event, earlier this month, at Lagoona Mall, as part of its ongoing efforts in support of the development of contemporary Qatari literature. The event marked the official launch of the books Imbratoriet Faa (Empire of F) and Fosool (Chapters), the latest works of Abdullah Fakhro and Aisha Jassim AlKuwari, two young authors who rank among Qatar’s greatest up-and-coming literary talents.
A spokesperson for Fifty One East said: “We are pleased that with such events as we are able to effectively contribute to the promotion of Qatari culture by supporting young talent and encouraging their development and growth.”
Abdullah Fakhro said: ”I am truly grateful for the opportunity to launch my latest work, to present it in this fantastic setting and to be able to engage in dialogue with such a distinguished audience. It is an experience that will certainly help in my further development as an author. I thank Fifty One East for making this event possible and my publishers for their continuing support.”
Aisha Jassim AlKuwari said: “Representatives of the new generation of Qatari authors welcome such initiatives, as they enable us to inform the audience of our work and discuss it with them. Although new forms of communication enable us to spread the word of our achievements very efficiently, the direct contact with the audience is still indispensable.”
The book launch is part of a series of events and a wider community engagement initiative of Fifty One East in the affirmation of new Qatari talent in arts and culture.
