Doha, Qatar: The activities of the third edition of the “Asaneed” Programme for the 2025/2026 academic year were launched December 21.

The programme is organised by the Da‘wah Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in cooperation with the Mosques Department, with the participation of 50 imams and muezzins. It aims to grant them ijazah in the narration of Hafs from ‘Asim with an uninterrupted chain of transmission (isnad) back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The launch of the programme comes as part of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ efforts to enhance the Qur’anic performance of imams and muezzins, and to strengthen the correct method of learning based on direct oral transmission and authenticated chains of narration.

This helps ensure high-quality, precise recitation in accordance with the established rules recognised by scholars of Qur’anic recitation, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to caring for the Book of Allah and serving those who work in His houses.

The “Asaneed” Programme is considered a distinguished educational initiative that aims to teach participants the Qur’anic readings and grant them ijazah with connected chains of transmission to the Messenger of Allah.

This contributes to correcting Qur’anic performance, raising the standard of recitation, and mastering the rules of tajwid according to well-established methods of transmission.

In its third edition, the programme focuses on achieving several objectives, most notably correcting the recitation of imams and muezzins in accordance with proper rules, qualifying and developing their Qur’anic skills in a way that positively reflects on their da‘wah mission and their performance of prayers in their mosques, in addition to helping them obtain ijazah in the narration of Hafs from ‘Asim and attain the honour of being connected to the chain of transmission back to the Prophet (PBUH).

The Da‘wah Department had announced the opening of registration for the programme on November 24, 2025 for a period of one week.

The programme witnessed significant demand, with approximately 600 imams and muezzins from various regions of the country applying, an indicator of the strong interest among mosque imams and muezzins in developing their Qur’anic proficiency and obtaining ijazah with a continuous chain of transmission.

Following the registration period, the department conducted admission tests before five examination committees at Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad Mosque in the Hazm Al-Markhiya area, from December 7 to 11. Applicants were carefully evaluated according to approved academic criteria, including accuracy of memorization, quality of recitation, and precision in applying the rules.

The results of the tests led to the selection of the top 50 imams and muezzins, based on evaluation scores, to participate in the programme, which extends over six months and is scheduled to conclude on 11 June 2026.
