The MET department has continued its cautionary notice for sea goers. The climate today will be hazy to misty at places and become cloudy with chances of scattered rain. Thunderstorms are expected along with sudden strong wind. MET department also expects high seas reaching up to 10 feet and wind speed going up to 30 knots, offshore.
The department has issued safety measures that need to be taken in case of thunder storm, on its social media accounts. The department stressed that thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds causing sudden drop in visibility. Residents are advised to stay indoors and away from open water, high areas or roof tops or under trees and electricity poles. Those on roads need to close windows when driving to avoid being hit by lightening, the social media post said.
The maximum temperature expected today is 27 degree Celsius and the minimum 18 degrees, with 15 degree Celsius expected in Abu Samra.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)has urged all winter campers and animal farm owners to take extra caution due to the prevailing unstable weather. The Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife Department of the ministry is all set to provide services and help to the campers and farms. The MME’s rain emergency team has also finalized its contingency plans. The ministry has published the contact details of rain emergency teams in various municipalities in case of any emergency.
