On Saturday September 21, the School of Public Administration and Development Economics (SPADE) at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) organized an induction event for the second cohort of new students completing their postgraduate studies in the academic year 2019-2020.
Of these, 13 students, executive leaders from both the public and private sector, have been admitted this year to the Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) and Executive Masters in Public Administration (EMPA) dual degree programme.
Head of Programme, Professor Farid El-Sahan, stated that the introduction of the EMBA-EMPA dual degree programme at the DI is in line with the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2018-2022 that was designed to implement Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
The programme's focus on enhancing human development skills and on building a knowledge-based workforce that will promote institutional efficiency and effectiveness aims to fulfill these goals. Sahan noted that the programme, which is offered in English, is the first of its kind in Qatar, and the region.
The Doha Institute launched the programme in 2018 in cooperation with the European School of Management and Technology, Berlin (ESMT Berlin).
The dual programme which is accredited by the four accreditation bodies that include the German state, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), and the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), in collaboration with the School of Public Administration and Development Economics at the DI, combines business and executive public administration.
It aims to promote career development in strategic leadership positions, offering new career options in both public and private sectors, and upgrade professional capacities and skills related to decision-making and strategic planning.The programme prepares seasoned managers for executive leadership roles in both the private and public sectors by combining best business management practices with expert insight into governance and policy analysis.
Students enrolled in the EMBA-EMPA dual degree programme will obtain a dual master degree from both institutions within twenty months.
