Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the opening of applications for its Nuclear Engineering Programme under the Government Overseas Scholarship Programme for the 2026–2027 academic year, as part of efforts to develop highly qualified national professionals in one of the country’s key strategic sectors.
The ministry, in a post on X, said registration will be open from July 1 to August 15, 2026, inviting eligible students to apply for the programme, which is designed to prepare Qatari talent for careers in the energy and environmental sectors in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
The Nuclear Engineering Programme forms part of Qatar’s government-sponsored overseas scholarship initiatives aimed at building specialised national expertise to support the country’s long-term development priorities in advanced technologies and sustainable energy.
To qualify for the programme, applicants must obtain at least 80 percent in the General Secondary School Certificate, secure an unconditional admission offer from an approved university in one of the designated academic tracks, and meet all general requirements of the Government Scholarship Programme.
Applicants are also required to achieve an IELTS score of at least 6.0, or an equivalent score of 78 in TOEFL iBT, while ensuring that their chosen university major is compatible with their secondary school academic track.
The ministry highlighted a range of financial and career incentives offered through the programme. Successful candidates will be appointed to Grade 9 positions immediately after receiving the scholarship, with their study period counted as part of their government service. In addition, scholarship recipients will receive a monthly scholarship allowance alongside their government salary throughout their studies.
Students admitted to the programme will pursue their studies at universities included in the ministry’s list of approved institutions for overseas government scholarships, in accordance with the designated academic pathway.
