Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has called on the public to adhere to cybercrime prevention guidelines, stressing that cybersecurity awareness plays a vital role in protecting personal information and reducing the risk of falling victim to online crimes.
In a public awareness message shared on the X, the ministry emphasised that following basic cybersecurity practices helps safeguard personal data and enhance digital security.
The ministry advised the public to regularly change passwords and choose strong combinations that are difficult to guess. It also urged users to avoid responding to suspicious messages or opening links before verifying their source.
The ministry further stressed the importance of ensuring that websites are secure and trustworthy before making online purchases or entering personal information. It warned against sharing passwords or bank card details with others, noting that such information should remain confidential.
In addition, the ministry encouraged users to keep operating systems and applications updated to address security vulnerabilities and improve protection against cyber threats. It also recommended using reliable security and antivirus software and ensuring that these programmes are updated regularly.
