Doha: A total of 392 students from Grade V to XI (Boys’ and Girls’ sections) of MES Indian School, who have excelled in their academic endeavour during the academic year 2020-21 were honoured with meritorious certificates during the Principal’s Honour List (PHL) function held virtually yesterday.
Principal’s Roll of Honour was instituted to acknowledge the relentless perseverance of students for their outstanding academic performance.
K Abdul Karim, President, MES Governing Board was the chief guest. Ahamed Isham, General Secretary officiating and Kashif Jaleel, Director, Academics, MES Governing Board were the guests of honour for the ceremony.
Congratulating the PHL achievers on their well deserved success, K Abdul Karim said, “The key to academic excellence lies in the unceasing effort to practice perseverance. The role of a school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower students to be life-long learners and critical thinkers.” He also commended the collective efforts of the parents and the school in bringing out the potentials of students despite the uncertainties caused by the prevailing pandemic.
The school principal, Hameeda Kadar while felicitating the winners remarked, “Young people need to perform in a diverse global economy which is typified by technological innovations and stiff competitions. As we prepare you to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow, we affirm that this journey of success, being an ongoing process invariably encounters new ideas and avenues.”
Parents of students studying in the Boys’ and Girls’ sections of the school have fondly remembered in gratification on the merits of their wards studying at MES, and glorified the school for playing a pivotal role in moulding the future of their children. The programme also witnessed the recorded performances of students performing a soulful rendition of songs and a mesmerising dance which enthralled the audience.
Amongst others present on the occasion were MCMuhamed, Director Co-curricular and Cultural Activities, Abdul Fathah, Director, Sports and Games, MES Governing Board, the members of the school management, the Principal, Vice Principals and Heads of Section, the Head of academic inspection, Assistant Heads of Sections, school officials, Heads of Departments, parents, teachers and students.
Rema Nair, Coordinator of the Department of English welcomed the gathering. Bismi Joseph, teacher, Department of English proposed a vote of thanks. The ICT Department of the school ensured the successful conduct of the programme on the virtual platform. Muhammed Haneef, Ashijan, Mrs Annie Dayana and Roopa Mohan, teachers in charge of the PHL function coordinated the event.
