MADRID: Two Moroccan citizens were arrested on suspicion of preparing suicide bomb attacks in the Spanish capital Madrid on Tuesday.

According to a written statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, security forces arrested the two suspects early Tuesday morning.

The suspects, aged 22 and 43, who were “detected as dangerously radicalized and were planning an attack on European soil, are linked with Daesh[...],” the statement said.

Spain’s terrorist threat still remains at Level 4, the second highest stage, since June 26, 2015. Around 164 people suspected of being linked to terrorism have been apprehended since.
