
DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education soon will receive 23 new buildings for Independent schools and Kindergartens for the academic year 2016- 2017, from Ashghal, the Public Works Authority.
The Ministry is expected to receive the new school buildings from Ashghal by the end of June, which is 17 schools and six Kindergartens Al Sharq reports.
Total cost of these facilities is QR1.246bn.
The buildings are for primary, preparatory and secondary schools, and every school will accommodate 650 students in 25 separate classrooms. The new schools are expected to accommodate a total of 12490 students, and some of these schools will open for the coming academic year.
The main building of every school includes physics, chemistry and biology labs and two halls of computer and administrative rooms, in addition to another facilities.
The Kindergartens buildings include 12 classrooms and can accommodate 240 children. These buildings have covered play areas for small children.
In areas outside Doha, the Ministry of Education and higher education will receive school building in Al Rayyan and three in Al Wajba area built for the of cost QR260m.
Two schools in Al Kaaban area — one in Al Dhakhira and other one located in Al Karanah — cost QR272m. Three buildings, each in Al Shaihaniya, Onaiza and Al Ruwais have been built with the cost of QR199.35m. Two in Mesaieed and one in Mesaimeer area cost QR 187.85m. Another three schools in Um Saneem area cost QR168.5m. Six Kindergartens are located in Nuaija, Hazm Al Markhiya, Al Mazilah, Umm Ghuwalina, Al Dhakira and Wadi Al Banat. The school buildings will also meet all essential requirements for people with special needs.
