Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with the United States Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting for members of the coalition against ISIS, which is being held in Washington. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, particularly in economic fields. They also discussed issues of joint interest.
The Secretary of the Treasury stressed during the meeting the US administration's commitment to developing relations with the State of Qatar in all fields to advance mutual interests.
The Foreign Minister also met Nancy Pelosi, minority leader of the US House of Representatives, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on ISIS.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations in the political and economic fields as well as education, in addition to Qatar's efforts in combating terrorism.
Pelosi praised Qatar's role in fighting violent extremism through education and economic empowerment.
The foreign minister also met Senator Mitch McConnell, majority leader of the US Senate.
The meeting discussed bilateral ties and means of boosting and developing them in addition to developments in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
