Mosul Airport, Iraq: Iraqi forces on Thursday entered Mosul airport, which lies on the southern edge of the city, for the first time since the Islamic State group overran the region in 2014.
AFP reporters saw Iraqi forces enter the airport compound from the western side after an advance backed by drones, jets and gunships saw them retake some of the last open areas south of the city.
