Qatar Academy organised their annual Sports Dayover a period of three days, dedicating each day for the different age group of primary school students to engage in a multitude of physical activities.
The Early Education Center (EEC) organized a family picnic for QA’s youngest students with at least five different play and physical activities the parents are encouraged to do with their children. According to Principal Karen Nicholls, combining picnic and movement was ideal for the children.
“We are always looking for ways to include parents in school activities with the view of building community. As our children are very young and not fully able to engage in ‘sport’, we saw it as a perfect opportunity to involve the parents in participating with their children in the activities. Using the idea of a picnic allows the parents to come together and get to know each other also”.
Engaging the parents and every member of the QA community was also the aim behind the 10-station line up of activities organized by the PE department for the other primary school students, covering Pre-3 to Grade 1 on one day and Grade 2-5 the following day. Teacher and After School Activities Coordinator Richard Boustead share that every event meets the varying skill set of the students.
