The Joint Committee on Human Food Control discussed during its fourth meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Health, an application to set up a mechanism for licensing of private food laboratories. The committee also issued a decision enhancing coordination between the concerned authorities regarding imported meat.
The meeting was held following the restructuring of the committee after a ministerial decision. The meeting also approved 18 topics on food control transferred to the committee from other competent bodies.
Members of the committee held another meeting with directors of the municipalities to consolidate cooperation and communication to ensure high levels of safety standards and food quality in the local market.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of Public Health at the Ministry and head of the committee, emphasised the importance of coordination on food control between different municipalities and other concerned bodies at all levels and outlets to ensure health and food safety.
