Qatar Charity (QC) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and experience sharing in the field of international humanitarian work.
The MoU was signed at MSF’s headquarters in Paris, France, by Yousuf Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Qatar Charity, and Dr Méguerditch Tarazian, President of MSF France.
“We, at Qatar Charity, have long been looking forward to this cooperation with MSF, and we have found this interest to be mutual, through the communication that we had over the past years as well as the positive interaction between the two organisations on a number of humanitarian events that were organised by QC in Doha,” said Mr Yousuf Al-Kuwari, Executive Director of Qatar Charity.
“This step represents the real partnership that combines Qatar Charity with MSF, and we are fully confident that it will contribute to developing and supporting mutual understanding and cooperation in the different medical humanitarian projects, said Mr Mohammad Bali, the Executive Director of MSF in UAE.
The MoU focuses on three main areas: raising the general awareness of citizens and residents in GCC countries about medical humanitarian activities and how to participate in them; capacity building and the sharing of expertise in relation to field projects; and the launch of joint fundraising campaigns to support field projects in times of emergency crises.
Al Kuwari pointed out that the mandate of Qatar Charity, along with its fellow humanitarian organisations, is to contribute effectively and responsibly to the humanitarian work and activities undertaken by non-governmental organisations in GCC countries, adds to wider international efforts. This in turn, will help QC relay its humanitarian message and face the enormous challenges. Foremost among these are the needs resulting from the humanitarian crises that are raging through a number of countries in the Arab world (Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, etc). So, this cooperation with MSF is a real added value that will contribute to meeting those challenges”.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mohammad Bali, Executive Director of MSF in the United Arab Emirates.
