A partially cloudy sky yesterday brought down the temperature by a few notches ushering in cooler days ahead. As Qatar is expected to get light rains from today, authorities are bracing for the rainy season.
A light drizzle was recorded in some parts of the country yesterday. Acording to the Qatar Meteorology Department, the chances of rain will improve during Friday and Saturday as rains with light to moderate intensity are expected in most areas. The unstable weather, due to atmospheric pressure variation, is expected to continue until Monday with a chance of scattered rains. However, by Tuesday, the weather is expected to become stable.
Today, hazy to misty weather is forecast with clouds and chance of light rain, with relatively low temperature. However, the Met department has warned of strong winds and high seas offshore due to thunder showers at places by midday.  The maximum temperature forecast for today is 28 degree Celsius, going down from 30 degrees recorded over the last few days. Minimum temperature will vary between 15 to 22 degrees in various places.
With strong easterly winds expected to begin tomorrow, the department has issued offshore warnings of strong winds and high waves.
The Met department has urged all to be cautious and avoid sea activities as long as the atmospheric instability continues and to follow the latest official weather updates and warnings through different social media channels. Meanwhile, Rain Emergency Team at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment yesterday held a meeting to discuss preparations for rains and to assign tasks between various authorities. The meeting was attended by services affairs departments’ directors at municipalities and representatives of Public Works Authority and Mechanical Equipment Department among others. The ministry on its Twitter account has published the contact details of rain emergency teams in various municipalities in case of any emergency.
