Forty-eight ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Doha attended the gala dinner hosted by the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara at Katara Beach on Monday.
In his welcome speech, Katara General Manager Dr. Al-Sulaiti expressed gratitude and appreciation to all ambassadors and embassies in Doha for their constant and fruitful cooperation with Katara in hosting cultural performances, events, and exhibitions throughout the year.
“Katara has magnificently succeeded in shedding light on the Arab and international diverse cultures with a special focus on preserving regional and global traditional heritage, through hosting a countless number of cultural and intellectual activities, musical performances and creative art displays from across the world,” said Al Sulaiti.
“Such achievements would have never been possible without the constant and generous cooperation of your distinguished embassies. We still have much to do and your commitment and cooperation is vital and needed, he added.
Swaziland Ambassador Felizwe Dlamini, said: “Katara has an exceptionally good role in hosting cultural events. It gives every country and continent the opportunity and exposure at a renowned cultural platform with multi-national audiences present.”
Canadian Ambassador Adrian Norfolk, said: “Katara plays a tremendous role in bringing cultural events from all different parts of the world to Qatar. People like myself who live here are very lucky to have straightforward access to numerous excellent cultural events from around the world and from Qatar as well. The Traditional Dhow Festival is just one recent example of Katara’s amazing contributions to promoting culture.”
Switzerland Ambassador Etienne Thévoz, said: “Katara has a significant role in organizing mega events such as the European Jazz Festival, that witnessed excellent achievement in its three editions.”
“This gala dinner helps in promoting future events in cooperation with the Cultural Village, and in creating good spirit and enthusiasm amongst ambassadors as we are collectively committed to boost bilateral relations,” Thévoz added.
Commenting on the occasion, Mexican Ambassador Francisco Niembro, said: “Katara is probably the best partner that ambassadors have as the Cultural Village supports us in promoting our rich cultures which is essential in demonstrating Qatar’s role in endorsing awareness about diverse cultures in the region and beyond.”
