Doha: Under the directives of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, Qatar Petroleum (QP) joins the international community in celebrating the second World Energy Day today.

The first-ever World Energy Day was marked on October 22 last year in Dubai when world leaders and delegations from over 24 countries, including Qatar, unanimously supported the “World Energy Day Proclamation” during the opening of the World Energy Forum (WEF) 2012.

The main objective of the annual event is to stimulate discussions on energy policy, inspire innovation in energy production and energy use, as well as to highlight the importance of energy and the environment.

In line with this year’s observance of World Energy Day, QP has developed a booklet focusing on the State of Qatar’s commitment to energy efficiency. The booklet, which is intended for students, clearly explains what energy is all about, the different sources of energy, and why it is important to save energy. It then goes on to highlight the programs and initiatives being implemented by Qatar’s energy and industry sector to achieve energy efficiency.
