DOHA: House rent has decreased by 3.3 percent in August compared to last year, according to a recent report released by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA), while prices and expenditure on several other areas have increased in comparison with August 2011.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2012 says that rents have dropped along with fuel and energy expenses.
“Increases were recorded in all the major groups, with the exception of rent, fuel and energy”, which registered a drop of 3.3 percent,” according to the report.
The CPI for the month of August was 111.4, showing an increase of 0.3 percent when compared to the CPI of July and, a 2.3 percent increase when compared to the CPI of August, 2011.
A comparison of CPI, August, 2012 with the previous month index (CPI of July, 2012) on major expenses shows an increases ranging between 0.1 percent and 0.8 percent in all with an exception of food, beverages and tobacco, where prices declined, by 0.1 percent. The Peninsula
