Doha: Islamic Dawah Organisation has distributed QR1.6m to 2,465 orphans in Yemen sponsored by Qatari philanthropists within the framework of the ‘Orphan Sponsorship’ project it has implemented in Arab and African countries.
Hammad Abdul-Qader Al Sheikh, Director-General of the organisation’s office in Qatar, said the organisation, in collaboration with Yemeni Al Ferdaws Foundation and its ‘House of Qatar for the Orphans’, has distributed donation to orphans every four months.
The sponsorships range from partial to comprehensive and cover all needs of orphans at an annual cost of over QR12m. The donation is provided by people of Qatar, who believe in the right of the orphans to live in dignity as granted by Islam, he said.
Al Sheikh praised the philanthropists who sponsored and supported the orphans in Arab and African countries and said the sponsorships have helped many orphans and their families meet essential needs. He highlighted the organisation’s ongoing projects and initiatives to help orphans and productive families, build homes for them, orphans empowerment, Eid clothes and school bags.
