DOHA: Over 25 faculty from Qatar University College of Medicine (QU-CMED) received certificates following the successful completion of the third and final session of a series of workshops, under the theme “Disseminating the Mentoring Culture Across Training Programs: A Faculty Mentoring Training Program”.
Organised in collaboration with the Medical Education Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the workshops aimed to provide CMED faculty with the necessary core competencies to be effective mentors and role models for medical students.
CMED has been running a mentorship programme for undergraduate medical students since February 2017, led by Dr Michail Nomikos, CMED Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Coordinator of the CMED Mentorship Program.
The Faculty Mentoring-training Workshops are an essential element of the mentorship programme, helping to build a sustainable base of faculty equipped to be successful mentors.
The latest workshop was delivered by Dr Michail Nomikos, and Prof. Alison Carr, CMED Head of Clinical Sciences; Dr. Shireen Suliman, HMC Consultant in Internal Medicine; and Dr Margaret Allen, HMC Associate Director for Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development.
