Ashghal’s engineers in front of the completed mosques in Muaither.
The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, completed the implementation of a new set of projects for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) in different parts of Qatar, includes 12 completed daily prayer mosques and Jame’a mosques, in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
Engineer Abdul Hakim Ahmed Al Hashemi, Head of Public Projects Section, Buildings Project Management Department - Ashghal, confirmed that the Authority delivered 12 mosques in different parts of the state, with an estimated cost of QR70m.
He added: “Awqaf projects were built according to the highest quality standards, with designs inspired from the Qatari heritage. The projects were built in different areas including: (Umm Ghuwailina, Muaither, Al Rayyan, Old Airport, Fereej Abdul Aziz, Al Gharafa, Fereej bin Mahmoud, Al Wakrah, Al Hilal). This is in addition to 10 mosques, are expected to be completed during the second half of the current year 2017”.
Engineer Khaled Ali Al-Saad, Projects Engineering Advisor- Ashghal, said that the mosques, that are being implemented and delivered by the buildings affairs at Ashghal, include 4 jame’a mosques demolished and reconstructed, in Muaither, Umm Ghuwailina , Al Rayyan and the old airport.
Each Jame’a Mosque can accommodate about 1,000 worshipers and more, each of which has prayer halls distributed over three floors, in addition to a prayer hall dedicated to women, providing ablutions (Wudu) facilities and accommodation for both the imam and the muezzin. As for the Jame’a mosques due to be delivered by the end of 2017, they include three mosques demolished and reconstructed in Muaither and the Old Slata and Al Marra.
Regarding the daily prayers mosques, Engineer Obaid Rashid Jaralla, Projects Engineering Advisor- Ashghal, said: “The projects carried out by Ashghal include eight mosques; six of which are demolished and reconstructed in addition to two typical mosques, distributed in several areas: Fereej Abdul Aziz, Gharafa, Muaither, FereejBin Mahmoud, Al Wakrah, Al Gharafa and Al Hilal”.
The daily prayers mosques consist of prayer halls for men and women spread over one or two or three floors with ablution facilities and a private residence for the imam and the muezzin.
The mosques currently under construction include seven mosques; five of which are demolished and reconstructed and two typical mosques, in Fereej Abdul Aziz, Al Mamoura, Al Ghanim Al Qadim, Umm Al Saneem, Al Rayyan Al Jadeed and Al Wakrah.
