A reception with the participation of representatives of state bodies and non-governmental organisations of Qatar and the diplomatic corps, dedicated to the establishment of the 25th anniversary of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held yesterday.
In his speech, the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission, Askar Shokybaev, emphasised the role of Kazakhstani diplomacy in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian life of the country from the moment of gaining independence, its achievements in the international arena, among which a special place was taken by the contribution to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the global disarmament agenda, peacekeeping activities within the framework of the UN.
The merit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the issue of closing the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, the initiative to convene the CICA, the Congress of Leaders World and traditional religions and other important issues were discussed.
