Doha: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, also the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Police College, attended the graduation of the first mandatory qualifying course organised by the college for graduates of civilian universities.
The batch comprised 36 attendees from the Ministry of Interior’s departments, who graduated with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
During the six-month course, they received military, sports and academic training and visited several departments of the ministry.
Brig. Dr Mohammed Abdullah Talib Al Mahanna Al Marri, Director-General of the college, said this batch is the nucleus of future courses to be held by the college for graduates of civilian universities who are engaged in the field of police work.
He praised the high standards shown by the graduates and said the course included a start-up period for transition from civilian life to police life, in addition to academic qualification through legal and police materials.
First Lieutenant Jassim Abdullah Al Khater, Commander of the course, said the main objective of the course is to develop knowledge and capabilities and of the officers and refine their skills and experiences to enable them to assume work efficiently and effectively.
On behalf of the graduates, Second Lieutenant Rashid Hazam Mohammed Al Marri said the course provided a lot in the field of police work and that training is one of the essentials of success in any work.
The Premier also handed certificates to the graduates. Senior officials from the ministry and families of graduating officers were present.
The Premier also chaired the 4th meeting of the Supreme Council at the college headquarters. The meeting discussed topics on the agenda and took appropriate decisions.
