Since joining forces with College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q), renowned cancer researcher Professor Firouz Darroudi (pictured) is not only continuing his ground breaking cancer research, but is also sharing his knowledge with other scientists to benefit Qatar.

Dr Darroudi delivered a key biomedical research workshop to the Ministry of the Environment’s Biotechnology Centre earlier this month and will be back to deliver part two of that workshop on April 26. He will also be offering additional workshops to researchers at the National Centre for Cancer Care and Research in May and June.

These cytogenetic workshops (composed of both theory and practical) are oriented toward understanding the nature of DNA damage with physical (radiation) and chemical (food and environmental) pollutants. He presents updated conventional and state-of-the-art biological assays with reference to improving human health by performing population monitoring, detecting biomarkers for cancer and improving cancer therapy regimens.

Dr Darroudi has indicated that in these workshops, entitled Human Risk Assessment and Population Monitoring, he is covering different cytogenetic assays and presenting their applications with a link to clinical and medical science research programmes. The Peninsula
