The Changanacherry NSS College Alumni Association-Qatar (Chanss-Qatar) celebrated Easter and Vishu at a function at the Crystal Palace Hotel on Friday.
About 400 members of the association and their families participated in the day-long celebrations, which featured many musical and cultural programmes, highlighted by a mono-act by Anjana Anil Kumar, and poetry recitation by Sandra Harikumar and Vidhu Anil Kumar.
A mridangam (percussion instrument) concert by Govind Chandrasenan and a group song led by P S Venugopal, Predeep Chandran, Gopal Chandrasenan and Arun Kumar also kept the audience spellbound. An improvised, song-based competition, anchored by Suchitra Venugopal, also proved a big hit among the audience.
Sophi Vijoy and senior executive committee member Vijoy Vengal spoke about Easter and its significance while another ex-com member Sasi Kumar Pillai extended Vishu greetings to the audience.
Chanss-Qatar president Varghese Mathew spoke about the activities and future plans of the forum.
Vice-President Bindu Phillip welcomed the gathering while Senior Ex-Com member Rajendran Thottathil proposed a vote of thanks.
