QU in deal with dispute resolution centre

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) College of Law and Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre will collaborate in the field of legal education, research and training.
The collaboration is a result of an agreement signed by QU President Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham and QICDRC CEO Faisal Rashid Al Sahouti in the presence of officials from both institutions. 
It includes collaboration in advanced vocational, legal and judicial training, professional development programmes, and subsidiary courses. It also covers joint conferences, symposiums, seminars and workshops, collaborative research projects on alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Both institutions will cooperate in providing internships and training for college students who will also benefit from sponsorships and job opportunities from the centre after graduation.
Dr Al Derham said, “It highlights QU’s openness to government institutions and reflects its position as the leading national university in Qatar. 
“It also underlines the college’s commitment to drive forward dialogue and knowledge-sharing between institutions in Qatar in general and in the field of international trade and investment and dispute resolution, in particular.”
He said the collaboration aligns with the college’s efforts towards excellence. “This will contribute to enhancing our students’ skills and knowledge on the most recent methods applied worldwide in the area of dispute resolution,” he said.
“The agreement highlights the relationship between the centre and QU and the importance of raising community awareness about legal education, and the necessity to contribute to its development and the improvement of its outcomes,” Al Sahouti said. 
College Dean Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi said, “We are proud to partner with the centre on the initiative as we have been cooperating with it for many years on legal topics and issues. 
“The agreement contributes to enhancing collaboration between both institutions and advancing academic development at QU.” The Peninsula
