SINGAPORE: Qatar Airways (QA) concluded its successful showcase of the world’s latest technology aircraft at Singapore Airshow, delivering its trademark hospitality and service to officials, executives and fellow members of the aviation industry on board the three aircraft — the Airbus A350 and A380 and the Gulfstream G650ER.
Akbar Al Baker, QA Group Chief Executive, welcomed Pang Kin Keong, Permanent Secretary at Singapore’s Ministry of Transport, other officials, trade partners and the media on board the three latest-generation aircraft.
Al Baker said: “QA was proud to be a central part of the airshow, one of aviation’s greatest gatherings. As we continue to induct more new aircraft into our growing fleet, at the rate of one new plane every 10 days this year, events such as the airshow allow us to showcase the best and finest of our fleet. QA has seen the Singapore Airshow grow over the years and our enhanced presence demonstrates the region’s importance to QA.”  The A350, for which QA celebrated its one-year anniversary of operations as the global launch customer last month, flies triple-daily to Singapore, double-daily to Frankfurt and Munich and daily to Philadelphia. It will soon serve New York City as the second daily flight, and Boston and Adelaide as the airline inaugurates these cities this year.
The Business Class cabin features 36 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration featuring an 80-inch full flat bed and 17-inch HD in-flight entertainment screen and a spacious in-flight bar. Economy Class features 247 18-inch wide seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, each with a 10.6-inch in-flight entertainment screen, and more space at shoulder level for passengers in window seats due to the vertical side wall panel design.
The 517-seat superjumbo A380 aircraft comprising First, Business and Economy class over two decks is the largest passenger jet in the world, and flies to Bangkok, Paris and London from Doha. The A380 First Class features a seat with a 90-inch pitch that transforms into a fully-flat bed and has up to 2,000 entertainment options displayed on individual HD 26-inch television screens.
Visitors also viewed and toured Qatar Executive’s Gulfstream G650ER. The world’s largest and fastest business jet can accommodate up to 13 passengers comfortably. It can fly non-stop from destinations in Asia to Africa and is perfectly suited for those whose travel needs include flying halfway around the globe.
